Every photo on the homepage right now is from the same trip: a drive up through Arthur's Pass and out to Castle Hill — Kura Tāwhiti, to give it its proper name — on the way through the Southern Alps. Not Te Aroha, not Waikato, but it's what was on the camera when this site finally got built, so it's what's up first.
The ridgeline shot happened almost by accident — pulled over on the side of the road because the cloud was doing something interesting over the peak, the kind of stop you almost talk yourself out of and are always glad you didn't. The braided river and the valley view came from the same short walk. Castle Hill's limestone tors are hard to photograph badly, if I'm honest, but I still took far too many frames trying.
This website has been sitting as an idea for a while — somewhere to put photos that otherwise just live on a phone — and now that it's actually live, the plan is to keep adding to it: more photos, more of these write-ups, and eventually a proper little shop for the handmade photo cards that are still in the "figuring it out" stage.
